The law defines a non-governmental non-profit organization as one that does not treat profit as its principal aim and does not distribute income among its members.
Why it matters for the association. This definition shapes how we work — and it is the legal basis for our education programs being free of charge. The law places the following duties on us:
- reporting on financial and program activity in the prescribed manner;
- registering funds received from foreign sources;
- operating within the aims set out in our charter.
That is why the Reports and Documents sections of this site are open to the public — both a requirement of the law and our responsibility to the community.
